Osteopathy is a system of manual therapy. Your osteopath will work to improve the health and function of your joints, muscles and connective tissues in order to reduce pain, improve function and help with healing.

When we treat your joints and muscles we also affect your nerve and blood supply and introduce the potential to influence further structures and so treat conditions including:-

Back and neck pain, headaches, joint pain and lumbago, sciatica, neuralgia, muscle spasms, tennis elbow, shoulder pain, wrist and ankle dysfunction, sports injuries, tension and more.

Osteopathic treatment can be quite varied but usually includes:
articulation - rythmic movement to gradually increase the range of motion of a joint
work to the soft-tissues - including muscles, this may include some massage type work
exercise prescription and lifestyle advice

and may include, if appropriate and consented to:
manipulation - a joint is put under tension and an impulse delivered, the joint may release with a click
Medical Acupuncture/dry-needling - the use of Chinese acupuncture needles but used according to Western Medical ideas for muscle trigger points or other soft-tissue issues
